Clinics & Services
We run a large number of clinics for particular patient groups. Patients who have a long term condition will be called at least annually to be reviewed. We arrange these recalls in the month of your birth and combine reviews where possible so you don't have to come in so many times!
Antenatal Care - the Daisy Team Midwives offer total care for pregnancy, birth and the post-natal period.
Asthma and COPD - our specialist respiratory nurses, Paula and Caroline, help to diagnose and monitor patients and they work closely with the doctors to optimise treatment plans for each individual patient. Every patient with asthma or COPD is invited for an annual review so we can monitor your progress and make sure you are on the most up-to-date regime.
Blood tests - clinics run every day with our healthcare assistants. We make sure patients who have to fast overnight for their blood tests are seen early!
Bowel Cancer Screening - The NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme offers screening every two years to all men and women aged 60 to 74. People over 74 can request a screening kit by calling the freephone helpline 0800 707 6060
Cervical Screening - the first invitation for a cervical screening test will be sent to you at age 25, followed by an invitation for a routine retest every 3 years for women aged 25-49, every 5 years for women aged 50-64. Patients over 65 will be invited if they have not been screened since age 50 or have had recent abnormal tests. Cervical screening tests are carried out by the practice nurses.
Chlamydia screening - self-testing kits are available for both males and females aged under 25 - please ask if you would like one. The confidential result will be sent to you at home. More details can be found at gocheckyourself.com
Diabetic Clinic - Dr Mayer is our lead GP for diabetes and he runs the diabetic clinic with Caroline our specialist diabetic nurse. All diabetic patients should have an annual diabetic retinopathy screen, foot check, blood tests, urine test, medication review and advice on diet and lifestyle.
Family Planning - for contraceptive advice, depot injections, implanon and coil fitting. Dr Christie and her team provide the coil-fitting and implanon service. If you are interested in having one, please make a routine appointment to discuss it with one of them first and they will then arrange a suitable time for the fitting if it is appropriate for you. Please make your pill check appointments with our family planning nurses.
Hypertension Clinic - our Healthcare Assistants monitor patients who have straightforward hypertension. They work with the doctors and nurses to help make the diagnosis of hypertension, monitor control, and ensure routine blood, urine and ECG tests are up to date. We now carry out 24-hour blood pressure monitoring to aid in the diagnosis of high blood pressure.
Leg ulcer and wound care clinics - are now run by our highly skilled practice nurses. District nurses attend our housebound patients and all others come to the practice nurses at the surgery.
Minor surgery - Several of the GPs offer minor surgery and joint injection procedures. If you need a minor surgery procedure and it is appropriate to be done in Primary Care, we will arrange it for you in-house if at all possible.
Mother and Baby - the health visitors run a drop-in clinic for advice and help with your baby.

"At risk" patients are also offered the pneumonia jab. Patients eligible for immunisations under national "catch-up" campaigns will be contacted directly by the surgery.
