Tattoos and Skin Piercing

Anything that breaks the skin, including tattooing, acupuncture, needles, piercing or hair removal by electrolysis, could pass on HIV, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C and other infections. Only go somewhere that uses sterile equipment for each customer, ask if you are not sure. All tattoo artists need to be registered with their local council and a certificate must be on display showing this.

We can offer you a Hepatitis B vaccination here with our nurses. Reputable tattoo artists may ask for proof of this vaccination before they proceed. It is a private vaccination that does come with a cost. You may already have had this done as part of a travel consultation with a nurse. You can ask for a summary of your medical record to be printed if you are unsure.
